MY FIRST DAY IN POLAND (02.08.2013)

The days before my trip, I was very nervous, especially because I did not know how I would be received in Poland and if I was going to be able to express myself well in English. But all my fears were put out when I reached Wraclaw airport. After a long journey (Logroño-Madrid-Munich-Wraclaw) with some problems (changed the departure gate to Wraclaw) I arrived at my destination and I had a warm welcome by the head person of the host organization (Organization in which I perform my volunteer European). I was glad to know that Darek, the project manager, could speak Spanish. And another volunteer who accompanied him, could speak English as well, so the trip to Gloglów was very nice and friendly. At all times, they were very attentive to me and very patien. I was nervous because I wanted to provide a good image about me, I wanted to cause a good impression, but I felt very comfortable and above all, very happy to be finally in Glogów.
When we arrived at our destination, we had dinner directly. There we met another guy who is also doing a European voluntary. His name is Sandro (his real name is Aleksandr) and he is from Russia, but usually lives in Latvia. It is fortunate for me to have him as a companion, because he understands and speaks Polish and helps me to understand most things. He is very patient and nice to me and that is something I will always appreciate. Dinner was something that surprised me. As a first course we were served a very small piece of watermelon with salt, something I had never tasted. It was good! I found also strange that in summer they take cold soups. They are similar to creams or purees and they have all the flavors and colors available. I also liked that!
Then, we went to the floor where I will be living for 8 months here in Glogów. These blocks of Soviet-style flats are differentiated by colors and surrounded the building. I live in a blue one. The entrance gate is achieved by introducing a Captcha code. The flat is really cozy: floors, doors and wooden frames, stained glass doors, large windows, lots of cupboards... The apartment consists of lounge, kitchen, two bedrooms, a bathroom with shower and sink and another room with the wc. I have a room for my own, with bed, desk and a large closet, very cozy. Darek provided me with towels, sheets, comforters, duvets and pillows. I felt like a queen!
To end the night, Darek, Remik, Sandro and I went for a drink at a bar. The day was great!
Ah!!! And I live with a cat!!! A pretty black kitty!! Her name Koshka!!
