FEELINGS III: ROLLER COASTER

I have been waiting all day to get home and write ... Yes , write because I like it and it helps me to think clearly . I am having a hard time ... life it is not always rosy! Finally, it seems that my bubble has burst and reality hit me a chunk . - Hey you , wake up ! Things are not what they seem ... (at last, at last I am crying ... I needed and  I could not do it before ) I am not in the mood because things are not going as I expected. But this is what I have to wait ! that things do not always go well! I must to wait that things go wrong to be prepared for it ... I was the queen of the world , since coming to Poland , it seemed that all my problems were gone : great work , great people , love , evil as ever ,but I did not care much , I had no complaints . And now either, everything is still wonderful. The problem as I have with myself ... Sometimes one can be your own enemy ... Something Iam doing wrong or not very well and I have to fix it. Because really, Szansa, in Dolina Milosci, Gantalcalá, my family, deserve it , deserve the best of me , for being my support during this time . My fear appears again, fear of failure ... Always the same : at first everything is great, then things change ... . and people forget me ... why do I have this damn hobby always wanting acceptance from others? Really, it is exhausting to want to love you all the world ... And although I can not change ... Always caring for others and wanting someone who cares for me ... Well, that is life. I want to send a message not pessimistic, on the contrary, I would say, that despite the problems I am really happy, it is normal to feel bad from time to time, we are humans, not machines, we can not always stay with a smile on our faces. But remember, you can always smile, do not ever stop! That is what the bad face of life has taught me. With a smile, life is otherwise. Now I am disappointed but not unmotivated. I proposed activities have not been as successful as I hoped. Well, I must work harder and better, find the reason and solution. Everything happens for something. But really, I want to do something worthwhile....You know, I feel better ... I recommend you write your thoughts because it really helps.

Be happy my friends!!

ALL ABOUT POLAND II: SEXISM

Since I arrived in Poland, surprised me a lot about their culture. One is the fact that men and women dance any style of music together. It can be rock , pop, house , popular and traditional songs ... Men and women always dance in couples and, in addition , they dance very well! This issue and many others I spoke with a guy at the wedding. He was surprised that I told him that in Spain, normally, men and women dance separately, and often, the man does not dance, just watches and drinks from the bar. This guy asked me why , if dancing is fun, and I said , many men think that dancing is not " men's business ". Because of this, we started talking about sexism . In Spain there is a lot of sexism , latin man can be considered sexist, though of course not always the case, but in general , we still have much progress towards equality between men and women. The way the Polish men treat women is different from Spanish men. As I said in previous posts, here is more matriarchal society than in Spain, but men believe they are in a duty to protect women by nature weak, and they believe that they have to work hard for their families, and women should care for children and home. Could say that is a very conservative society on the model of the Catholic Church. Yesterday, I was reading about this topic because I want to know what is the situation of women here in Poland. I could know that the number of victims of violence against women is very high but nobody wants to talk about this topic...

Stadístics:

Spain 2009: 55 women were killed by their husbands.

Poland 2009: 150 women were killed by their husbands.

But there are not stadistics because there are not law, studies, research...Everyone is silent... I could read that this problem must be solved indoors, "when we talk about family there are no individual rights" (Pope John Paul II said this). Is for this reason,  there is no specific legislation on gender violence. And then, women can not do nothing... Furthermore, most of the time justify violence with the fact of alcohol. This is the sad reality. But, fortunately, not always is in this way. You can find very precious persons here in Poland. Just, I think, Poland must to fight for their rigths.

1111 VISITS!! GRACIAS!!/ THANKS!!// DZIęKUJę!!

1111 VISITS IN JUST TWO AND A HALF MONTHS!!

Wedding!!

On Saturday, 19th of Octuber , Darek and me, we went to a wedding in Kutno, a village between Poznan and Warsaw. He had no companion , so he asked me and, of course, I said yes. After a journey of five hours , in various modes of transport , we reached our destination . At 16.00h the link started in a pretty church. How cold it was ! The bride obviously married in white, but I was surprised that she married in a short dress . Anyway, she was very pretty , with a style of 50-60' . During the ceremony, I saw that the Mass is the same as in Spain , except that here , you have to kneel a few more times ... I could count about four times the couple had to kneel before the altar. The music (organ and violin ) very nice , and even had a singer . The ceremony lasted more over than hour . Normal, but I just thought "we were going to catch pneumonia , but cold !" At Mass , participating children as altar boys , something I have not seen much in Spain , perhaps in southern of Spain but not for a wedding. When it finished, the couple and the guests left the church . And the guests , instead of rice, they threw coins ! What danger ! hahaha . Later, one by one, we approached to kiss and congratulate the couple. Three kisses , not two.

After the ceremony , a bus took us to the function room , outside of Kutno . Before entering, as a tradition , the bride and groom had to eat bread with salt and drinking vodka. After, the glass thrown back, for good luck . Then everyone took their places at the tables. Over a hundred people we went to the wedding. I met several friends Darek , all very nice! The food was abundant throughout the night . The only thing I am vegetarian and  I did not have many options, but it was fine. People ate and then, inmediately, got up to dance! Many dances , songs , games , great fun! I also tried homemade vodka and another vodka of 72 degrees! OMG!, I thought I was going to burn the throat ! But it was good. Unfortunately , I could not stay all night. About 2.30 am I went back to the hotel because I had a terrible headache (because of vodka?? I don´t know...) . But I think that dance, sing , eat and drink from 4.00 pm to 2.30 am is enough, do not you think? ;) It was great . I greatly appreciate having invited me to go with Darek to this wedding! I know no one more fun than Darek!! Dziękuję Bardzo!!

Congratulations Wojciech and Agniezka!!

                                                  Darek and me

In the next post, I will discuss in more detail aspects of Polish culture that I saw at this wedding! See you there!

SCHRONISKO - DOLINA MIŁOŚCI

The last day I went to Dolina Miłości , Monika and me, we went with kids to Schronisko, a village not so far from Głogów, where there is an Animal Protection Center. It is an activity that often children do: clean the cats, walk the dogs, feed them, etc.. I enjoyed because I love animals and I like this kind activities because children learn to love and care for animals, and that is really important to grow as good persons. Thank you, Monika, for let me enjoy this activity.

Zapraszam na warsztat salsy i języka hiszpańskiego ! Stowarzyszenie dla Dzieci i Młodzieży SZANSA

To promote the activities that I will perform in Szansa, Ula wanted to make a video. In this video, I appear introducing myself in Spanish, English and inviting people to come to my workshops in Polish. From I nearly died of shame, but in the end, everything went well, we had not to repeat the scenes. Definitely, cameras are not for me, but the intention is what counts so:
Zapraszam na warsztat salsy i języka hiszpańskiego !

Dziękuję Ula! ;)

Przeciwdziałanie rasizmowi i dyskryminacji Workshop on racism and discrimination. (Leszno, October, 2013)

On 11 and 12 October, held in Leszno, the workshop on discrimination and racism, by Stowarzyszenie dla Dzieci i Młodzieży  Szansa. Obviously, this workshop was held exclusively in Polish. Even so, I wanted to participate because it is a challenge for me and  it is a very good opportunity to get used to polish and practice listening and learn how to develop a workshop of this nature. It was a little hard for me but I could participate in dynamic and practical exercises. In addition, I met very interesting and enjoyable people. Next date: November!!

ALL ABOUT POLAND

In previous posts, I told you, some aspects of Polish culture that I had known. In this post I want to continue telling you more about this fascinating culture.

I want to tell you that it is very typical that you meet on the streets, crows. Most are kind of smaller crows, but you can see normal crows. For me it is very strange, you can see birds, but the most abundant are crows, but are harmless. The Magpies are also present in the streets. Many times, at sunset, the crows fly and emit their characteristic sound. It looks like a scary movie! But really, give the city a magical mystery that I love.

Moving on, another thing that surprised me is that Poland, is the paradise of men and women care. In each store, you can find huge halls filled with products for skin care, hair, teeth, etc.. For me, a paradise, especially in terms of capillary topic because I found very good products, good value, as in Spain, are hard to find. Now I understand why the people of Poland is reputed to be good looking! ;)

About the language, every time I advance more, slowly but surely! I can tell you, that here, when they say Nooo! means yes. That "pies" means "dog" in Spanish (pies in spanish means foot) and we have many common words such as "tractor", "guitarra", "meble" ("mueble", etc.). The hardest part of this language are the cases: depends on the case, the word changes. So my name, for example, depends on the situation, it changes. I can be Sary, Saro, Sara ... etc.. as well as seven different cases ... Anyway, long story ...

About the personality of the Poles, I can say that you can still find the typical gentleman. He open the door for you,  he gives a way to you,  he gives you flowers ... etc.. As in everything, there are gentleman men and there are gross men, but generally, men here, have much respect for women.

To be continued...

SPANISH LESSONS IN DOBRZEJOWICE :D

Yesterday afternoon I was, like every Tuesday, at Dolina Miłości . But we did not go to Bukwica, this time we went to Dobrzejowice, another village near Głogów. There, after taking a hot tea and a delicious cake by Bogusia, I was slowly getting to know the children who were excited about my arrival. I am foreign, from another country, so they are always very curious about this! As Monika said: They do not know you but  they love you! I think the only girl resists me is the small Magda, who always tells me: go away!! hahahaha. First we went to the park, there the children collected leaves and tree nuts. Then we returned to the center where they meet and start Spanish classes. Children and adults laid great interest! The people there were very nice to us! Thank you very much for a fantastic afternoon. We will see soon!
