After a Saturday very well spent (I attended a wedding, do not ask me why, and I went to the pool) on Sunday, I had my first contact with the organization where I will make my European Voluntary Service (EVS). Along with my partner Sandro, I attended a football tournament organized by this entity. After this experience I could actively participate, I can say that the activities are very well organized.
At this event I met other volunteers and the organizer, Sebastian. If there is something I like about the Polish people is their look clean and welcoming smile. Everyone was very attentive to me, trying to communicate with me in English, I felt part of the group, it was a truly enriching experience. The tournament was celebrated during the morning and I could see some behavioral habits of the residents of Glogów. I found that Glogów has a very traditional and conservative society. I could see that men are, in most cases, those who perform physical labor and women dedicated to the care of the children and the house. Arguably a sexist society, but also I saw that men are very protective of women and children. In this soccer tournament not involved girls, boys teams participated only because it is not common for girls to practice this sport.
Anecdotally tell you that I participated in the contest penalties and I scored three goals! I was the only girl who took part but it was fun.
